We all have that one space in our home that’s dedicated to storing useful odds and ends. Often, it’s a utility closet. But how many of us actually optimize this space to its full potential? 2. Cleaning Supplies
My utility closet is also home to my arsenal of cleaning supplies. In addition, I always have a stock of microfiber cloths, sponges, scrub brushes, and rubber gloves.

I also keep a reminder in my calendar to replace it every 10 years, as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association.

These items are very handy when you need to power multiple devices or reach an inconveniently placed outlet. I keep a few of varying lengths and types in my utility closet. It’s important to remember not to overload power strips, and never use extension cords as a permanent wiring solution. They’re meant for temporary use and can pose a fire risk if misused.
8. Duct Tape
The versatility of duct tape makes it an essential item in my utility closet. From temporary repairs to crafting projects, duct tape is incredibly useful. I usually keep a couple of rolls in different colors. You’d be surprised how often it comes in handy, whether I’m patching a hole in an inflatable mattress or securing a loose cable.

I opted for a sturdy, foldable one that doesn’t take up much space. Remember, safety is important – always use a proper step stool instead of climbing on furniture.
