Home is where the heart is and, ideally, it should be a place where you and your guests feel the most comfortable. It’s easy for your space to become cluttered with unnecessary objects that don’t add value to your life or your home. Here are the 9 things I eliminated to create a more inviting atmosphere at home.

1. Excessive Decorations

While decorations can certainly add personality and life to a home, too many can create a cluttered and overwhelming environment. I decided to eliminate excessive decorations in my home and instead focus on a few key pieces that truly represent my style. This not only made the house look cleaner but also more personal and inviting.

2. Unnecessary Furniture

Furniture should serve a purpose and not just take up space. I found that removing unnecessary pieces of furniture opened up my living area and made the space feel larger and more welcoming. It also allowed for easier movement and improved the overall flow of the room.

3. Unwanted Gifts

We all have them – those gifts we receive that we don’t particularly care for but feel obligated to keep. I decided to let go of these items and it was liberating. Not only did it free up space in my home, but it also removed a source of guilt and discomfort.

4. Outdated Magazines and Books

I was holding onto stacks of old magazines and books that I no longer read. These were not only taking up valuable space but also collecting dust. By getting rid of them, I made room for the books and magazines I truly love and enjoy.

5. Unused Kitchenware

I realized that my kitchen was full of gadgets and tools that I rarely, if ever, used. Simplifying my kitchenware made my kitchen feel less cluttered and more functional. It also made cooking and cleaning up much easier.

6. Broken Items

It’s easy to hold onto broken items with the intention of fixing them “someday.” However, these items usually end up sitting around and contributing to a cluttered and disorganized home. By getting rid of broken items, I created a more tidy and organized space.

7. Excess Linens

Having too many linens was causing my storage spaces to feel cramped and unorganized. By eliminating excess linens, I was able to free up storage space and make my home feel more organized and less cluttered.

8. Old Electronics

Old electronics can take up a lot of space and serve no purpose. I decided to recycle these items, which not only freed up space in my home but also helped the environment.

9. Cluttered Entryway

The entryway is the first thing guests see when they enter your home, so it’s important that it’s welcoming. I removed unnecessary items from my entryway to create a clear, inviting path into my home. Now, guests can enter my home without feeling overwhelmed or cramped.
