Hi, I’m Madison Cates
Welcome to Decluttering Mom
Hey there — I’m so glad you found your way here.
If you’re anything like me, the moment you became a mom, you were suddenly drowning in opinions. Everyone had something to say about how to raise your kids, run your home, manage your relationships, and still somehow keep it all together with a smile on your face. The noise was overwhelming.
So I did what made sense to me — I started cutting through it.
Decluttering Mom was born out of that moment. Not just decluttering the junk drawer (though yes, we do that too), but decluttering everything — the mental load, the drama, the stuff, the routines that weren’t working, and the pressure to do it all a certain way. I wanted a simpler life, and I went looking for it in every corner.
What You’ll Find Here
This isn’t just a cleaning blog, and it’s not just a parenting blog. It’s a little bit of everything that actually matters in a mom’s daily life:
Home — Cleaning systems, organizing strategies, decluttering your space, and creating a home that actually feels peaceful to live in.
Relationships — How to protect your peace, stay far away from drama, nurture your marriage, and build relationships that actually add to your life instead of draining it.
Parenting — Real, simple approaches to raising kids without overcomplicating it. Less guilt, more presence.
Lifestyle — Food, travel, everyday hacks, and the little things that make life run smoother when you’re a mom on the go.
Mom Safety & Crime Awareness — Because being aware of your surroundings isn’t paranoia — it’s smart. I cover relevant news and safety topics to help you feel informed and confident when you’re out with your kids.
My Philosophy
Simple doesn’t mean lazy. It means intentional. It means choosing what actually matters and letting go of the rest — whether that’s a pile of unused kitchen gadgets, a toxic friendship, or a parenting approach that was never really yours to begin with.
I’m not here to add to the noise. I’m here to help you quiet it.
A Little About Me
I’m a mom of 3 boys who got fed up with feeling overwhelmed and decided to do something about it. I’m not a minimalism expert or a lifestyle guru — I’m just someone who’s been in the weeds of real mom life and came out the other side with some hard-won clarity. I share what works, what doesn’t, and everything in between — honestly and without the fluff.
Meet the Team
I’ve always believed the best advice comes from people who actually live it — and the best teams are built on expertise, not just titles.
That’s why I’ve brought together an amazing group of contributors who each own their lane. Some are moms like me. Some are women who’ve mastered the art of running a home on their own terms. And yes, some are men — because great insight doesn’t have a gender. What they all have in common is that they know their stuff, they keep it real, and they’re here to help make your life a little simpler.
Madison Cates — Editor in Chief
Here at Decluttering Mom, Madison does a little bit of everything — because that’s just who she is. She’s involved in the day-to-day operations of the site, from choosing which stories get told to covering industry news, seasonal content, and anything and everything that touches mom life. She started Decluttering Mom as a one-woman show with a simple mission: cut through the noise and find a simpler way to do this whole motherhood thing.
As her platform grew, so did her vision. She began bringing on experts, contributors, and real voices from different walks of life to deepen the experience, strengthen the advice, and make sure that no matter what corner of your life needs simplifying, there’s someone here who can help.
Madison sets the tone, shapes the direction, and makes sure every piece of content that goes out stays true to the heart of why this site exists in the first place — to make your life a little lighter, a little simpler, and a whole lot more enjoyable.
Susan Parker — Home & Garden
Susan has a gift for turning any space — inside or out — into somewhere you actually want to spend time. Whether she’s tackling an overgrown backyard or reimagining a cluttered kitchen, her approach is always practical, budget-friendly, and surprisingly doable. She’s here to prove that a beautiful, functional home doesn’t have to be complicated.
AJ Abraham — Crime News & Safety
AJ has a background in following crime news and a passion for making sure people stay informed without feeling paralyzed by fear. He breaks down the stories that matter — especially the ones that hit close to home — so you can stay aware, stay smart, and feel confident wherever life takes you.
Aria Hastings — Parenting & Celebrity Moms
Aria believes parenting doesn’t have to be as hard as the internet makes it look. With a no-pressure, back-to-basics approach, she writes about raising kids with intention, grace, and a whole lot of patience. She also keeps an eye on the celebrity mom world — because sometimes it’s fun to see how the famous mamas are doing it, and honestly, it turns out they’re figuring it out just like the rest of us. Her content is the kind you’ll want to bookmark for the hard days and the good ones too.
Stick around. Let’s simplify this thing together.
Have a question or a topic you’d love to see covered? — I’d love to hear from you.
