AGA Rangemaster is recalling roughly 3,992 dual-fuel ranges sold in the U.S. — plus 336 more in Canada — after finding that some units left the factory missing a cap on an internal gas test port, a gap that can let gas leak directly into the kitchen, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice.
The recalled ranges retail for $6,000 to $20,000 and were sold through authorized appliance dealers nationwide between March 2025 and July 2026. Affected models include the AGA AEL361DF, AEL481DF, AMC36DF and AMC48DF, along with the La Cornue LAC9 and LAC1 — La Cornue is a sister brand under the same UK manufacturer, AGA Rangemaster Limited.
CPSC says the defect is specific and mechanical: a required cap on the gas manifold’s test port was never installed on some units during manufacturing. Without it, gas can escape from the manifold whenever the range is connected to a supply line, creating a fire and explosion risk that has nothing to do with how carefully a homeowner uses the appliance. The recall also covers Canadian buyers, where regulators issued the identical warning the same day.
Dual-fuel ranges like these pair a gas cooktop with an electric oven, a configuration many serious home cooks prefer for the responsiveness of gas burners combined with the even, consistent heat of electric baking. That’s also why units like these tend to anchor a high-end kitchen renovation rather than get swapped out casually, which makes the “shut off the gas now” instruction a bigger disruption for affected households than a typical appliance recall.
No injuries have been reported. CPSC and the company are still telling every owner to treat the defect as active until a technician confirms otherwise.

The recall, numbered 26-756 by CPSC as a Fast Track case, was announced September 10, 2026. Because the fix is inspection and repair rather than a refund or return, owners still need to schedule that appointment even after shutting off the gas supply themselves.
