The receipt near the end of the video shows a total of $99.72, $100.00 handed over in cash, 2 cents of rounding and 30 cents in change. That was most of what an eight hour shift had paid.

The dad who posts as @joelhustle opened the August 15, 2026 video in his car with a question: “How much food can this $100 buy for my family at Walmart in 2026?” In his previous video, he says, “it took me eight hours to make just over $100 delivering for Walmart,” so he took the money back to the same chain. He also says why he was stocking up: “My wife and I are expecting our fifth child at the end of this month.”

He prices every item out loud as it goes into the cart, and text on screen keeps a running balance. Shelf staples come first: two packages of spaghetti at $1.24 each, two jars of pasta sauce at $1.97 each (“$93.58 remaining,” the screen reads), four cans of beans at 92 cents each, a canister of quick oats for $4.18, two loaves of bread at $1.48 each, jelly for $2.66, peanut butter for $1.98 and 10 soft taco tortillas for $2.98.

Produce is next: five pounds of potatoes for $4.18, three pounds of onions for $3.97, two pounds of carrots for $2.26, three pounds of apples for $3.24 and four pounds of oranges for $4.97. One item stays on the display. “I was gonna get bananas,” he says, “but they’re looking pretty green.”

In the cold aisle he picks up 36 large eggs for $4.92 and opens the cartons before they go in the cart (“Let’s check them. These are good.”), then two pounds of cheese for $6.96, two gallons of milk for $6.74 and a pound of butter for $3.06.

Then meat. Five pounds of chicken drumsticks cost $4.76. Five pounds of beef, which he says is “on sale for $24.94,” is the largest single line of the trip. That leaves $5.14, and he spends it in the freezer case on a bag of broccoli for $2.28 and two pounds of mixed vegetables for $2.58.

“Alright, that should be right around $100,” he says, and scans everything himself at a self checkout. He finished 28 cents under.

The video ends back in his car after dark with the other half of the math. Eight hours of delivering Walmart orders through Spark paid $111.29, he says. “After taxes that is probably more around $100, maybe even a little less.” His last line is a question: “Do you think this amount of food was worth working eight hours for?”

How to Run His $100 List at Your Own Store

Start with where his money went. Added up from the prices he reads out, the cart was $24.86 of shelf staples, $18.62 of produce, $21.68 of eggs and dairy, $29.70 of meat and $4.86 of frozen vegetables.

Keep a running balance the way his captions do. Open your phone calculator at the budget and subtract each item as it goes into the cart. He reached the register already knowing he was “right around $100.”

Shop in his order: shelf staples, produce, dairy, meat, and frozen vegetables last with whatever is left. His final $5.14 went to two bags of frozen vegetables.

Know which line can move. The beef was a quarter of the whole trip at about $4.99 a pound, while the drumsticks worked out to about 95 cents a pound. At his prices, trading the beef for a second five pound pack of drumsticks would free about $20 for anything else on the list.

Check food before it goes in the cart. He opened the egg cartons and passed on the green bananas for apples and oranges. On a fixed $100, a cracked egg or fruit nobody eats cannot be bought again.

Pair the list into meals before you leave the store, so nothing needs a second trip: spaghetti with sauce and beef; beans, cheese and tortillas; peanut butter and jelly on the two loaves; oats, eggs and milk for breakfasts; drumsticks with potatoes, carrots and onions.

Bring the budget as cash. His receipt shows $100.00 tendered, and a fixed amount of cash at the register is a limit the cart has to fit.

His prices come from one Walmart in August 2026, so copy the list and the method, then write your own store’s price beside each line before you go.
