Nicole Prince was looking through the clothes at the back of a Walmart when she spun around to see something, went up in the air “cartoon style,” she says, and came down in a mess on the floor that she had already smelled and already blamed on someone else.
She told the story on TikTok as @nicoleprince2222 on September 19, 2026, under the on screen title “STORY TIME” and the caption “One of my most embarrassing moments lol.” Her warning comes in the first few seconds: “Buckle in. This one is humiliating and also gross.”
At the time of the trip, she says, she was “really young, I’m like eighteen, 19 maybe,” and shopping with her daughter, who was almost two and sitting in the cart.
By the time the two of them reached the clothes section, she says, they had “trailed all the way through Walmart.” That is where she noticed “something kind of funky.” She looked around, saw an older couple behind her, one of them in a wheelchair, and settled on an explanation: “It must be the old people.”
Then came the slip. From the floor she looked up and saw the source. Her daughter, she says, had “exploded out of the back of her diaper, which is why I didn’t see it.” It had leaked out of the diaper and, in her words, “slipped through the cracks of the buggy.” When she turned around, she says, there was a trail “from as far back as I can see to the clothes aisle.”
She was wearing white shorts, and they were now stained across the back. “I start to panic because I’m embarrassed and I don’t have enough money to buy myself a new outfit,” she says. Her plan fit in one sentence: “The only thing I can do is rinse her off and we got to get out of here.” She ran to the bathroom and rinsed her daughter off.
When she came back out, she says, the woman in the wheelchair had rolled through the mess and was tracking it across the store, and employees were wiping the floor and asking who had done it. Prince says that with the staff already asking, she felt she could not tell them it was her. “I’ve got to get out of here,” she remembers thinking, and she left.
“The old people who I thought were the stinky ones,” she says, “and it was me the whole time.”
She tells all of it seated in front of a green wall in a blue and purple tie dye shirt, sunglasses pushed up on her head, and puts both hands to her forehead when she gets to the employees. Her verdict closes the video: “That is why I think motherhood is some kind of sick humiliation ritual. There’s no other explanation for that.”
If a Diaper Leaks Through the Cart in the Middle of a Store
Her story turns on one detail: the leak went out the back of the diaper, the one side a parent pushing the cart cannot see. So when something smells off in a store, check your own cart first. Lean your child forward and look at the back of the waistband and the seat behind her. In Prince’s telling the smell reached her before the slip did, which means there was a moment to catch it.
Put a layer between your child and the cart seat. Prince says the mess went through the gaps in the cart to the floor. A folded blanket, a cart cover or your own jacket under the child covers those gaps, so a leak stays in the cart.
Keep three things within reach on any store trip with a child in diapers: a full change of clothes for the child, wipes, and a plastic bag for whatever comes off. Add one thing for yourself. Prince’s second problem was her own white shorts and no money to replace them. A pair of leggings left in the car, or a jacket or long shirt you can tie around your waist, gets you out of the building.
If it happens anyway, stop the cart where it is. Every aisle you push it through afterward is another aisle of floor to clean.
Tell the nearest employee before you head to the bathroom, in one sentence: my child’s diaper leaked, it starts back there and it ends here. In her story the trail spread while she was gone, because another shopper rolled through it. Staff who know where a spill starts and stops can block it off.
Then clean up in this order: child first, soiled clothes into the bag, your own hands, and last the cart. Wipe the seat down, or hand the cart to an employee and say why, instead of pushing it back into the row for the next family.
