According to the creator, Penny had a long-standing pattern of behavior that revolved around control. Whenever her son Colton began becoming more independent—spending time with friends, working, attending school, or dating—sudden “emergencies” would appear.
Over time, the creator says she began realizing these situations weren’t random.
“She had done it his entire life,” she explained, describing how Penny would suddenly claim to be sick or need immediate help whenever Colton began focusing on his own life.
At first, the creator tried to be supportive rather than suspicious.
She says she would bring over movies from Blockbuster, bring wine, and spend time sitting with Penny to keep her company. On one occasion, she even went out of her way to cook a full dinner for the entire household.
A Dinner That Changed Everything
During that dinner, the creator says she prepared an entire meal—chicken Parmesan, salad, and bread—for everyone in the house. The group included her, Colton, Penny, Penny’s partner Matt, and Colton’s younger brother.
But the evening took an unexpected turn.
At one point during dinner, Penny began talking about another woman Colton worked with. According to the creator, Penny repeatedly praised the woman, describing her as beautiful and wonderful.
Then she made a shocking comment.
Penny told the table she was certain Colton would eventually marry that woman.
The creator says the remark came while she and Colton were already dating and had been together for months. Colton wasn’t even in the room at the moment.
That comment made something suddenly click.
Instead of trying to welcome her into the family, the creator began to realize that Penny might see her as competition.

The family began organizing what they called “family meetings.” According to the creator, these meetings typically included Penny, her partner Matt, Colton, and the creator herself. Occasionally Colton’s younger brother would also be present.
But the gatherings weren’t really conversations.
Instead, the creator says Matt—whom she describes as a very intimidating personality—would dominate the discussion.
“He talked over us,” she recalled.
Rather than hearing both sides, the meetings became lectures about how things should work.
According to the creator, Penny accused her of disrespect and insisted she would never be as important in Colton’s life as Penny was.
She also allegedly told her directly that Colton would never choose her over his mother.
The Emails That Made Things Worse
After one of these meetings, Matt reportedly sent Colton a long email criticizing the relationship.
The creator says he often sent lengthy messages “ranting and raving,” although she no longer has copies of them.
One line in particular stood out.
Matt told Colton that the couple were “not a package deal” and that the creator would have to earn a relationship with the family.
He also instructed Colton to stop “shoving her down our throats.”
From that point forward, the creator says the family stopped even using her name.
Instead of referring to her as Colton’s girlfriend, they simply called her “her” in texts and emails.
A Confusing Situation for Someone in Their Early Twenties
Looking back, the creator says she struggled to understand the situation at the time.
She was in her early twenties and had never experienced family dynamics like this before.
Most people entering a relationship hope to be welcomed by their partner’s family. She says she genuinely wanted Penny to like her and to believe she was good enough for her son.
What made the situation even more confusing was that Penny had been friendly toward her before the relationship began.
Once she started dating Colton, however, everything changed.
“I was never treated like someone welcome,” she explained.
And according to the creator, the behavior she had seen so far turned out to be only the beginning.
She ends the video by hinting that just a few months later, Penny made a move that proved she never intended to accept her in the family.
