When it comes to cleaning my windows, I swear by white vinegar. It’s cheap, effective, and eco-friendly.

I mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. This solution cuts through grime and leaves my windows streak-free.

I simply spray it on the glass and wipe it off with a lint-free cloth or newspaper. I love how quickly it dries, leaving a clear finish.

I always keep a microfiber cloth handy when cleaning my windows. These cloths are great for getting rid of any remaining moisture and ensuring a streak-free finish.

When I’m done applying the cleaner, I take a dry microfiber cloth and start buffing. The gentle fibers lift dust and grime without scratching the glass.

I use circular motions, which helps to work out any stubborn spots. It’s amazing how a simple cloth can make such a difference in the shine.

3. Try a squeegee after washing

After I wash my windows, I grab a squeegee to really make them shine. It’s a simple tool that does a great job of removing excess water, preventing those annoying streaks.

I start at the top corner and pull the squeegee down in a straight line. I wipe the blade with a cloth after each pass. This keeps the blade clean and ensures a smooth finish.

Using a squeegee not only speeds up the drying process but also gives my windows a crystal-clear appearance. It’s an easy hack that makes a noticeable difference!

4. Use coffee filters for polishing

I’ve found that coffee filters work wonders for polishing windows. They’re soft and lint-free, which means I don’t have to worry about leaving behind any annoying fibers.

When I use coffee filters, I notice a big difference in the shine. I just spray my preferred window cleaner and wipe with the filter. The result is clear and streak-free glass.

Plus, coffee filters are inexpensive and easy to find. I like to keep a few handy for quick cleaning sessions. It’s a simple hack that really elevates my window cleaning game.

5. Avoid cleaning in direct sunlight

When I clean my windows, I try to avoid doing it in direct sunlight. The sun can cause the cleaning solution to dry too quickly. This leads to streaks and spots that are hard to remove.

If I must clean when it’s sunny, I find a shaded spot to work. This helps the solution stay wet longer, allowing me to wipe it away more effectively.

Timing is important too. Early mornings or late afternoons are usually ideal. Not only does this help with the cleaning process, but it also makes the task a bit more pleasant.

6. Polish with newspaper

I discovered that using newspaper to polish windows is a game-changer. It’s surprising how effective it can be without any harsh chemicals.

As I crumple up a piece of newspaper, I find it absorbs moisture well, helping to prevent streaks. I simply spray my favorite window cleaner and wipe with the newspaper.

It’s important to use the inked side for better scrubbing power. Not only does it leave my windows sparkling, but it’s also a great way to recycle old newspapers.

7. Mix with a bit of cornstarch

I’ve found that adding cornstarch to my window-cleaning solution really helps to eliminate streaks. Just mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and vinegar for a simple solution.

When I apply this mix, it leaves my windows sparkling and clear. The cornstarch acts as a gentle abrasive, breaking up grime without scratching the glass.

I usually spray it on and wipe it off with a microfiber cloth for the best results. It’s an easy hack that really works!

To try it out, I mix equal parts of lemon juice and water in a spray bottle. Then, I spray the mixture on the glass surface. After spraying, I wipe it down with a clean cloth or a paper towel. The result? Shiny, streak-free windows.

Plus, the acidity in lemon helps to cut through grime. It’s a simple hack that I can easily incorporate into my cleaning routine.

The alcohol evaporates quickly, leaving the glass clean and streak-free. It’s a simple method that I always rely on for those tricky areas.
