In every home, the laundry room is a hub of activity. It’s where our clothes are cleaned and freshened, and sometimes it serves as a makeshift storage or utility space. However, this room is often overlooked when it comes to organization and convenience.
A well-stocked and organized laundry room can make the task of washing clothes less tedious and more efficient. Here are my top 8 items that I always keep in my laundry room for convenience.
1. High Quality Laundry Detergent

The quality of your laundry detergent can make a huge difference in the cleanliness and freshness of your clothes. I always have a supply of high quality, eco-friendly detergent in my laundry room. These types of detergents are not only good for the environment, but they are also gentle on your clothes and can help them last longer.
I often switch between liquid detergent and detergent pods, depending on the type of clothes I’m washing. Pods are particularly handy when I’m doing smaller loads.
2. Stain Remover

Stains are inevitable, but they don’t have to be a death sentence for your favorite clothes. I always keep a good stain remover on hand. This can be a commercial product, or a homemade solution of vinegar and baking soda. When you spot a stain, apply your stain remover as soon as possible, and let it sit for a while before washing the garment.
3. Drying Rack

A drying rack is an essential item in any laundry room. Not all clothes are dryer-friendly, and a drying rack can help you take care of these delicate items. They are also useful for drying clothes that could shrink in the dryer. I have a collapsible drying rack that I can easily store when not in use.
4. Iron and Ironing Board

An iron and ironing board are must-haves in any laundry room. They help you keep your clothes wrinkle-free and crisp, which is especially important for work clothes or special occasion outfits. I recommend investing in a quality iron that has different settings for various types of fabric.
5. Laundry Baskets

Laundry baskets are essential for keeping your laundry room organized. I recommend having at least two: one for dirty clothes and one for clean clothes. This way, you can easily transport your laundry to and from the laundry room.
6. Lint Roller

A lint roller is a quick and easy way to remove lint, pet hair, and other debris from your clothes. I always keep one in my laundry room for a last-minute touch-up before I leave the house.
7. Clothespins

Clothespins are handy for hanging clothes to dry on a clothesline or drying rack. They can also be used to keep socks and other small items together during washing. I always keep a jar of clothespins in my laundry room.
8. Sewing Kit

A small sewing kit is a lifesaver when you find a loose button or a small tear in your clothes. I keep a basic kit with needles, thread, and a few spare buttons in my laundry room. This way, I can make minor repairs right away, without having to take the garment to a tailor.
