Joolz is recalling about 3,840 Aer2 Car Seat Adapter Sets in the United States after the company found the adapter can come loose from the stroller frame and let an attached infant car seat tip forward and fall, even when it looks properly locked in place.
The recall, announced June 18, 2026 through the Consumer Product Safety Commission, covers only the car seat adapter set, not the Aer2 stroller itself, which Joolz says remains safe to use on its own. The adapters were sold nationwide at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, specialty baby stores, and online at joolz.com, bloomingdales.com, nordstrom.com and amazon.com between June 2025 and May 2026, at a price of roughly $50.
According to CPSC, the defect is a “false lock” condition: the adapter’s spring-loaded attachment pin can appear fully seated on the stroller chassis without actually engaging. Joolz’s own recall notice describes the same failure mode, warning that the adapter “may appear secure but could still be incorrectly locked,” which “may allow the car seat to tip forward and fall to the ground” while the stroller is in motion.

CPSC’s notice lists one report of an adapter detaching from a stroller; no injuries have been reported so far in the U.S. Health Canada’s parallel notice, covering roughly 148 units sold north of the border, cites the identical hazard description word for word, which is one reason regulators in both countries moved on the recall at the same time rather than treating it as an isolated complaint.
Joolz is a Netherlands-based stroller brand that markets the Aer2 as a lightweight, compact-fold travel system, and the car seat adapter is the piece that lets parents click an infant car seat directly onto the stroller frame for travel-system use, a setup a lot of families rely on for the newborn stage before switching to the stroller’s standalone seat.
What Consumers Should Do
- Stop using the Joolz Aer2 Car Seat Adapter Set immediately; check the product ID, which starts with NL311-, on the adapter itself.
- Continue using the Aer2 stroller on its own; it is not part of the recall.
- Contact Joolz for a full refund, paid electronically or via a virtual prepaid gift card, and use the prepaid shipping label to return the adapter.
- Call Joolz at 888-943-4889 (8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday) or visit joolzcarseatadapter.expertinquiry.com or joolz.com and click “Product Recalls.”
Joolz says a redesigned adapter is expected by the end of June 2026, and the company states that “the safety and wellbeing of children and parents is our highest priority.” Parents who use a car seat adapter with any stroller brand should get in the habit of tugging firmly on the car seat after attaching it. A genuinely locked adapter shouldn’t shift at all, and this recall is a reminder that a click or a snapped-in look isn’t proof of a secure connection.
