Stay At Home Mom Of Four Boys Reselling Only 10 Months Sold 34 Items On Poshmark In One Week, Including A $50 Sale From An $8 Goodwill Buy

A stay-at-home mom of four boys printed out a cheat sheet on her phone and walked her viewers through a week of sales. In just 10 months of reselling, Skylar Peterson sold 34 items between October 19 and October 25.

The total came to $924.91 in sales, with about $146 in cost of goods and, by her math, roughly $611 in net profit. “Not too bad for a stay-at-home mom, you guys,” she says.

An $8 Goodwill Pair Of Jeans Sold For $50 In Eight Days

The best sale was a pair of Goldie jeans with a pinched back waist. She paid $8 at the regular Goodwill, listed them for eight days and sold them for $50, for a $32 profit.

She had never found the brand before. “I would absolutely pick up a Goldie,” she says.

Another standout was a vintage Norm Thompson southwestern-style cardigan. It sold in three days for $38 after a $5 purchase, netting $25.40. She says it gave “artsy, bohemian, indie eclectic” vibes and stood out to her right away.

A Men’s Ralph Lauren Shirt Sold In One Day

She usually avoids men’s clothes, but a green corduroy Ralph Lauren button-down in a bigger size had enough “stackable factors.” It sold in a day for $32. She paid $5 and made $20.60.

A Rowback men’s shirt, a brand she had never found, sold in 11 days for $35 after a $5 purchase, leaving $23.

The reverse happened with some Callaway golf pants. They sat 150 days and sold for $16, and she says she would not pick them up again.

Her Bins Finds Cost $2 And Paid Off

Sports bras are a staple for her. She picks up Nike, Under Armour and Athleta whenever they are in good condition, because buyers do not want to pay $40 or $50 in the store.

50% Off Tuesdays Helped Her Margins

She also shops at a VA thrift sale that offers 50% off the last Tuesday of every month. A Cynthia Rowley wool blend turtleneck from there cost $3 and sold in four days for $25, a $17 profit.

A Craft & Burrow sweater, $2 at the VA sale, sold in five days for $28 and netted $20.40. A Pomander Place Vivian turtleneck dress listed as a top cost $5 and sold in three days for $68. It still sells on its website for around $160.

Her steady sellers included an Athleta cargo skirt that sold in 26 days for $25 after a $5 purchase, netting $15. She says it is probably her fifth or sixth, and they do not sell for a lot, but “they do sell.” She says that is the kind of item to grab if you want bread and butter that moves.

Even a pair of her husband’s Old Navy chinos found a buyer. They sold for $11 on eBay with no cost of goods, which left her $8, though she says she would not pick up that style to sell.

Bundles Brought In More Than Singles

One bundle covered a tan hooded cardigan, a Camila Coelho oatmeal wool sweater dress, a J.Crew marina wool alpaca sweater and a dress, with profits of $12, $24, $18.78 and about $11.63 respectively, by her breakdown. “I love a good bundle sale,” she says, and she tries to give a really good discount on them.

Her ThredUp sale was a Sezane pullover bought from The RealReal for $50. It sold for $100, and she netted $78.17 after covering shipping and free returns, which she says buyers love. The profit was $28.17.

Small Vinted Sales Fund A Vintage Coach Bag Hunt

She does not cash out her Vinted balance. She keeps it to source, and she is hunting a vintage Coach bag like the ones her mom and aunt carried when she was a girl.

This week Vinted brought in UGG mini boots for $30, kids’ UGG boots for $20, a Madden Girl pair of clogs for $5 and a waffle thermal for $5.60.

What Beginners Can Borrow From Her System

She asks other resellers who have filed taxes to leave encouragement in the comments. For now, she keeps listing, one thrift find at a time.
